The keys to thriving sod is with proper:
First and foremost, sod requires the right amount of water. Too much, and it can cause rot, fungus and infestations. Too little, and it will dry out and die.
St. Augustine and Empire Zoysia grass both need 2 or 3 waterings per week during the summer and 1 or 2 waterings the rest of the year in Florida.
Proper mowing is crucial and the height will depend on the type of grass you have.
|Sod Type||Min Height||Max Height|
|St. Augustine||3 inches||4 inches|
|Zoysia||.5 inches||1.5 inches|
Fertilizing is the next step.
It is also best to hire a professional company to manage potential pests. St. Augustine is susceptible to Chinch bugs, while Zoysia can harbour Bill bugs.
